OXFORD, Ohio -Miami University's men's swimming and diving team re-enters Mid-American Conference competition Saturday's with a 1 p.m. meet at the University of Buffalo.
Coach Pete Lindsay's RedHawks are 3-4-1 overall and 1-1 against league foes. Miami and UC tied, 150-150, last Friday at MU's Nixon Aquatic Center.
MIKE CARROLL (Toledo), winner of two individual events and one relay race against UC, was named the MAC Men's Swimmer of the Week. The senior captain from Toledo's St. Francis DeSales High School won the 100 breaststroke by edging out a Cincinnati competitor with a time of 59.31. Carroll also captured the 200 breaststroke with a swim of 2:10.41, a second-and-a-half faster than the runner-up from UC. Carroll swam the second leg of Miami's first-place 200 medley relay team.
"Buffalo has a young and rapidly improving team," said Lindsay. "The Bulls have several standouts in the backstrokes, sprints and individual medley events. The races should be fairly balanced and competitive. UB is the first of a string of three Senior Recognition meets in a row, so we are expecting some strong competition."
The RedHawks are ranked No. 23 in the Mid-Major national poll.
Miami returns home next Saturday (Jan. 30) to host Eastern Michigan.
