Miami vs. Ohio Postgame Notes

Miami opened the second half on a 17-0 run to evaporate an eight-point halftime deficit and take its first lead since the 13:10 mark of the first half. Sophomore forward/center Julian Mavunga accounted for 12 of the RedHawks' points during the opening flurry. Ohio's first points in the second half came at 12:25 off Armon Bassett's 3-pointer.
The 50 points scored in the second half is the most points scored by the RedHawks in any half this season. Their previous best was 43 in the second half at Milwaukee Dec. 19.
Julian Mavunga (18), Kenny Hayes (16), Adam Fletcher (13) and Antonio Ballard (11) each scored in double-figures, the first time the RedHawks have had four players do it in a game this season.
Sophomore forward/center Julian Mavunga tied his career high of 18 points. He also scored 18 points at Xavier and against Evansville. Mavunga scored 16 of his points in the second half.
Junior guard/forward Antonio Ballard recorded his second career double-double with 11 points and 13 rebounds. It was the seventh double-double for a RedHawk this season. His first double-double came on Jan. 17, 2009 at Kent State when he had 13 points and 11 rebounds.
Head coach Charlie Coles recorded his 195th MAC win to make him the sole leader in career MAC wins.
Junior guard/forward Antonio Ballard posted his second straight double-figure rebounding game with a career-high 13 rebounds. He had a then-career-high-tying 11 rebounds against Kent State on Jan. 12.
The 13 rebounds by Ballard ties for the most rebounds by a RedHawk this season. Adam Fletcher had 13 rebounds against Wright State on Dec. 13. As a team, Miami grabbed a season-high 43 rebounds, outrebounding Ohio 43-22, including 26-11 in the second half.
Over the final 20 minutes, the RedHawks shot .600 (15-for-25), the best shooting percentage in a half this year. The RedHawks shot .533 (24-for-45) for the game just missing the single-game season high of .534 (31-for-58) against Evansville on Nov. 28.
Miami outscored Ohio 29-5 over the first 10:50 of the second half. In its three Mid-American Conference contests, Miami is averaging 39.3 second-half points compared to 21.0 first-half points.
The last time hit the RedHawks crossed the 70 point mark was they hit 82 against Evansville on Nov. 28.
The RedHawks amassed six blocked shots against the Bobcats. Following an eight-block performance as a team on Tuesday against Kent State, the RedHawks are averaging seven over the last two games. Junior guard/forward Antonio Ballard accounts for five of Miami's blocked shots over the past two games. That includes a career-high three today against Ohio.
