OXFORD, Ohio -- Five women's swimmers with Miami University ties will compete this coming Thursday, Friday and Saturday (July 9-11) at the World Championship Trials in Indianapolis.
Four current RedHawks--MEGAN BRUNN (Mansfield), Kasey Carpenter (Cincinnati), Kelsey Vehr (Cincinnati) plus Florida transfer CLAIRE DICKMANN (Edgewood, KY)--and former Miamian Alyson Schmidt (Maineville) will compete at the IUPUI Natatorium this weekend.
Vehr and Brunn, upcoming juniors, will both compete in the 100- and 200-yard breaststroke events. Vehr is the defending Mid-American Conference champion in both events, while Brunn placed fourth in both races last February.
Carpenter, entering her senior season, will swim the 200 backstroke. She took second place in that event at the MAC meet.
Claire Dickmann, a highly regarded transfer from the University of Florida, will enter the 200 butterfly.
Schmidt, a recent Miami graduate and the reigning MAC champ in the 100 freestyle, will compete in the 50 free in Indianapolis.
Brunn, Carpenter, Dickmann, Vehr and Schmidt will all swim for the RedHawk Aquatics Club.
