OXFORD, Ohio -- Miami University's Men's Swimming Coachcoach Pete Lindsay has signed 10 athletes to National Letters of Intent and added three others as walk-ons.
LOGAN BRENNAN (Lincolnshire, Ill./Loyola Academy), SAM CHILDS (Palatine, Ill./Fremd H.S.), BRENT CURTIS (Cary, Ill./Cary-Grove H.S.), THOMAS DELVES (Aurora, Ill./Illinois Marmion Academy), MIKE GRAINGER (Cincinnati, Ohio/Indian Hill H.S.), CHRIS HOPPLER (Germantown, Md./St. John's Catholic Prep), IAN JOYCE (Earlysville, Va./Albemarle H.S.), MIKE KOCH (Sandusky, Ohio/Perkins H.S.), MATT McKEE (Middletown, Ohio/Middletown H.S.), BRIAN MURPHY (McLean, Va./Gonzaga College H.S.), ALEX REINHARDT (Littleton, Colo./Regis Jesuit H.S.), ANDY SUPRONAS (Mason, Ohio/Mason H.S.) and ANDERSON WHIPP (Ft. Wayne, Ind./Homestead H.S.) make up this year's recruiting class.
"It is a solid class which reinforces depth in some positions and will give us a critical mass necessary for strong training in the mid-distance and sprint events as well as the breaststrokes," Lindsay said.
The new swimmers and divers are expected to contribute immediately.
"Both freshman divers have great potential," Diving Coach Kong Rong Li said. "They will be in a good position to help the team and will impact the program in the next four years."
The incoming freshmen will join a team that finished third in the Mid-American Conference last year at the Sun Belt/MAC Championships Meet. Next year's team has higher expectations.
"This is going to be a stronger team," Lindsay said. "We have budgeted to allow for the new technical suits this year which will put us on a level playing field with the rest of the conference."
The returning swimmers are expected to drop time and the freshmen should make their presence felt during the upcoming season.
"We are excited with the combination of experience we will get with the seniors and juniors and the excitement that comes with the talented class of 2013," Lindsay said. "September cannot come soon enough."
