Chris Heaton Wins Swimming & Diving's MVP Award

OXFORD, Ohio -- Senior diver Chris Heaton (Centerville) was named Miami University Swimming & Diving's MVP for 2009 at last weekend's annual team awards banquet.
After completing an undefeated championship career in the Mid-American Conference, winning his seventh and eighth consecutive titles in the one- and three-meter diving events, Heaton winds up his career as one of Miami's greatest athletes.
Other honors presented at the banquet included: sophomore Tom Janszen (Cincinnati), who received the Joe Justus Scout Award, given annually to the up-and-coming athlete who displays the work ethic, drive and attitude to be a significant contributor toward team goals; freshman Chris Gunnels (Chapel Hill, NC), who earned the Bill Mulliken Award for most outstanding freshman; seniors Justin Dankovich (Greenville, SC) and Nick DuPuis (Atlanta, GA), who served as team co-captains in 2008-09; and junior MIKE CARROLL (Toledo), who was voted team captain for the 2009-10 season.
