Miami Falls to Wright State in the Nuxhall Classic

CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Miami baseball team fell in the opening round of the Joe Nuxhall Classic, 7-3, to Wright State on Tuesday at Marge Schott Stadium.

Wright State grabbed the lead in the third inning scoring three times with two outs. The RedHawk battled back in the bottom of the inning with Jon Edgington crossing the plate when Jordan Petraitis hit into a double play. Miami cut the lead to one with a one-out single to right by Jordan Jankowski which allowed Tommy Nurre to score from second.

The Raiders pushed the lead back to three as they scored two runs on three hits in the top of the fourth. Wright State add a run in the seventh and the eighth. The RedHawks closed their scoring in the bottom of the seventh, when Petraitis drove in Edgington on a fielder's choice.

Jordan Marker picked up the win for Wright State while Lance Kingrey picked up the loss for the Red and White. The RedHawks will play the Bearcats at 7 p.m. at Marge Schott Stadium tomorrow in the consolation game of the Nuxhall Classic.
