Miami to Represent United States at ISU World Championships

After an inspired first-place finish at the 2009 U.S. Synchronized Skating National Championships, Miami University's senior team will represent the United States as Team USA 1 at the 2009 International Skating Union (ISU) World Championships this weekend in Zagreb, Croatia.
Miami is making its fourth consecutive world championship appearance. The RedHawks are the only U.S. team to ever medal at the event, earning the silver medal in 2007. Miami's senior team skates their short program to a Beatles medley and had a superb effort with that program at the national championships, besting its nearest competitor by nearly 10.5 points. The RedHawks' free skate program is to Swan Lake, and the team looks to come out and nail that performance this weekend.
On Friday, April 3, teams will perform their short programs. The free skate competition will take place on Saturday, April 4 with awards ceremonies following. A combined 23 teams from 18 nations have qualified for the event:
