Miami University's synchronized skating teams compete at the United States National Championships March 5-7 in Portland, Maine.
"Our goal is to medal in each division," said head coach Vicki Korn. "A gold medal in each would be great. For the senior team, we hope for a gold or silver medal so that we can go to the World Championships in Zagreb, Croatia. The collegiate team has been the reigning champion for four years now, and we don't expect anything less out of that team, so hopefully in the collegiate division they repeat as gold medalists. For our junior team, we are hoping to be in the top three."
Competition at the United States National Championships begins on Thursday, March 5. The junior team skates it short program on Thursday at 6:40 p.m.
On Friday, the senior short program will be contested at 5:30 p.m., while the junior free skate competition takes place at 7:05 p.m. with awards for the junior division following at 9:20 p.m. Miami's junior team placed fifth two years ago and fourth last season and is looking for its first top-three finish.
The collegiate team seeks its fifth straight national title and 11th overall when they perform their free skate program at 2:27 p.m. on Saturday, March 7 with awards following.
Miami's senior team concludes its national championship stint with its free skate competition at 8:11 p.m. on Saturday. The RedHawks are seeking their fourth consecutive World Championship appearance with a top-two finish at the national championships.
