Miami's Heaton and Beres Place Among Top 16 Divers

Miami University senior diver Chris Heaton (Centerville) finished seventh and freshman teammate JIM BERES (Columbus) placed 16th among 34 male competitors in the one-meter event at the NCAA Zone C Diving Championships in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Heaton's score of 642.95 ranked behind six Big Ten divers, including the winner, Purdue's David Colturi who scored 731.90. Beres compiled a score of 567.00.
Zone C consists of schools located the central United States including Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, West Virginia and Wisconsin. The meet serves as the qualifying competition for the NCAA Championships in College Station, Texas.
Both Heaton and Beres will compete in the three-meter diving event Saturday afternoon.
