SAN DIEGO - The Miami softball team opened the San Diego Classic with a 9-0 five inning loss to San Diego State. The RedHawks fall to 10-7 on the season after having their six-game winning streak snapped.
The Aztecs were able to end freshman Jessica Simpson's scoreless streak at 28 and two-thirds innings with a two-run home run in the top of the second inning. They were able to score three more in the top of fourth and four in the top of the fifth to earn the run-rule victory.
Miami hitters struggled against San Diego State starter Bailey Micetich, only managing one hit, a second inning double by Jenna McGivney.
