Collegiate Team Places Fourth in Short Program Competition

HARBIN, China--Miami University's collegiate synchronized skating team performed its short program on Monday, Feb. 23 at the 2009 Winter World University games. The RedHawks, who are representing the United States, competed against teams from Finland, Russia, Sweden and Switzerland.
Skating their short program to the music of Tango De Roxanne, Miami posted a total score of 55.05, earning a mark of 31.65 for program elements and a mark of 23.40 for program component score.
Miami sits in fourth place after the short program. Team Sweden earned a score of 77.56, Team Finland posted a score of 70.10, while Team Russia compiled a score of 61.59. Team Switzerland sits behind the RedHawks with a score of 46.86.
Miami will perform its free skate program on Tuesday, Feb. 24.
