Miami University's collegiate synchronized skating team is in Harbin, China to represent the United States at the 2009 Winter World University games.
The team departed Oxford in the early morning hours of Wednesday, Feb. 18. After 41 hours of travel, that included flight delays, the team arrived on Friday, Feb. 20 and will compete this week against teams from around the world. Miami will perform its short program on Monday, Feb. 23 and then will contest its free skate program on Tuesday, Feb. 24.
This is the first time all three Miami synchronized skating programs have competed internationally. The senior and junior teams competed at the Prague Cup Jan. 30-Feb. 1 and now the collegiate team is competing in China at the Winter World University Games.
The RedHawks have had some opportunities to take in the local culture. The following link is a blog by junior Ashley Korn for IceNetwork.com on the team's experiences at the Winter World University Games: Ashley Korn Blog.
Additionally, the United States International University Sports Federation is cataloging the results and information on Team USA with pictures and releases from the 2009 Winter World University Games.
