Miami vs. Wright State Postgame Quotes
December 13, 2009
Wright State Head Coach Brad Brownell
"This was a disappointing loss for our team. I think we were just out-toughed at the end. Most good college games boil down to the last three minutes where each team has a chance to make some big plays. To Miami's credit, they just played a little bit better than us and that was the difference in the game."
"We got a little tired late in the game and Miami kept competing hard. It wasn't very aesthetically pleasing, but the buzzer sounded and they were a point up. Nobody was going to be up by that much in this game. Even at the end of the half, we went up seven but Miami made a couple of mistakes, otherwise it would have been a one-point game."
"Our plan was to try to shut down (Kenny) Hayes and (Nick) Winbush. (Antonio) Ballard stepped up and made some big plays for them. (Adam) Fletcher was really key too. He was really active inside and we're not much of an interior team. He's been through the wars and he's got to be a coach's dream from the perspective of physicality and communication."
Miami Head Coach Charlie Coles
"I have a tremendous amount of respect for Brad Brownell and Wright State. This is a 20-win team that we defeated today."
"At halftime, I didn't mention the end of the first half one bit. I could have wrecked them mentally if I had. I could have spent the entire second half talking what happened at the end of the first half. I made a note of it, and then I went in there and I said, `Let's forget it for now, let's go out and win'."
"We finally played some defense today. I know they didn't have one of their guards but Vaughn Duggins is a scary player and (Troy) Tabler went out and stole the show tonight. He was the player of the game."
"(Antonio) Ballard and (Rodney) Haddix had to do this tonight. They either had to lead us to victory or I would know that something is wrong. They both stepped up and made some big plays for us, both offensively and defensively."
