RedHawk Women's Swimmers Lose at Toledo

TOLEDO, Ohio - In a battle of Mid-American Conference unbeatens, host University of Toledo defeated Miami University by a score of 174-124 in women's swimming and diving competition at the UT Student Recreation Center.
The RedHawks (3-3 overall, 2-1 MAC) got first-place finishes from five individuals in six events, but were ultimately done in by one-two-three finishes in five events by the Rockets, now 7-1 overall, 3-0 MAC.
Miami breaststroker extraordinaire Kelsey Vehr (Cincinnati) won two events at 100 and 200 yards in her specialty. She swam 1:03.99 in the 100 and 2:21.07 in the 200.
Kasey Carpenter (Cincinnati) captured first place in the 200-yard backstroke in a team- and season-best clocking of 2:03.05.
Allison Way (Omaha, NE) won the 100-yard butterfly event in a season-best time of 56.93.
The RedHawk divers held up their end of the competition by sweeping the one- and three-meter events. Kelsey Anagnos (St. Louis, MO) won the one-meter with a score of 241.88 and took third in the three-meter event. Freshman CORY BANGS (Monument, CO) won the three-meter at 257.93 and finished third in the one-meter.
Miami finishes the weekend competition tomorrow afternoon (Nov. 7) with a 1 p.m. dual meet at Bowling Green.
