YPSILANTI, Mich.--Miami University freshman James Beres (Columbus) swept both the one-meter and three-meter competition, but the RedHawk swimming and diving squad lost Saturday at Eastern Michigan, 179-119, at the Olds Student Recreation Center.
The loss evened Miami's Mid-American Conference record to 1-1 and dropped its overall mark to 3-7.

Other RedHawk winners included Brendan Melling (Fr., Solon) in the 1000 freestyle (9:29.98) and Chris Gunnels (Fr., Chapel Hill, NC) in the 100 backstroke (:51.92). Gunnels also was a member of the runner-up 400 medley relay and 200 freestyle relay units.
Other second-place finishers for Miami included Nick DuPuis (Sr., Atlanta, GA) in the 100 butterfly and the 200 freestyle, Cameron Horner (Fr., Columbus) in both the one- and three-meter diving events, David Brown (Jr., Lake Orion, MI) in the 50 free, and Jason Hass (So., Jackson, MI) in the 200 individual medley.
Miami's men swimmers and divers conclude the home portion of their schedule on Friday, February 6, at 7 p.m. with a dual meet against Ball State at the Nixon Aquatic Center.
