RedHawk Synchronized Skating earns two first place finishes

FRASER, Mich. - The Miami University synchronized skating teams competed at the 2008 Mid-America Championships and Junior World Qualifer at Great Lakes Sports City in Fraser, Mich. on Friday through Sunday, Jan. 11-13.
The RedHawk Senior short program brought home first place with a score of 71.82, a season high. While the Senior free skate earned second place on its first competition skate with 114.11 points.
The Miami Collegiate free skate also earned gold, winning the event with a score of 95.46, almost a full ten points ahead of the next competitor!
The RedHawk Junior team finished third place in the Junior World Qualifier with 154.38 points, earning second place with 61.4 points in the short program and fourth place with 93.24 points in the free skate competition. This was the Junior teams second appearance at the Junior World Qualifier and their highest finish at the event.
The Miami Senior team will next travel to the French Cup International in Rouen, France on Feb. 1-3, while the Junior and Collegiate teams will compete at the Midwestern Synchronized Skating Championships in Nashville, Tenn. on those same dates.
