RedHawk Women's Swimmers Use "Schmidt Power"

Seniors Alyson and Malarie Schmidt combined for three individual victories and swam together on Miami's winning 200 medley relay unit as the RedHawk women's swimming and diving team defeated host Kenyon College, 124-76.
Alyson Schmidt (Maineville) was victorious in the 50- and 100-yard freestyles (:23.87 and :52.24) and Malarie Schmidt (Batavia, IL) captured the 200 individual medley (2:09.61). The pair teamed with sophomores Megan Brunn (Mansfield) and Allison Way (Omaha, NE) to win the 200 medley relay in a time of 1:47.19. Way also was victorious in the 100 butterfly (:56.90).
Individual wins also were recorded by Jenn Flaherty (Scarborough, MA) in the 1000 freestyle (10:29.38), Allison Stevens (Laurel, MD) in the 200 freestyle (1:53.63), Kasey Carpenter (Cincinnati) in the 100 backstroke (:58.37) and Chelsey Bruington (Mission Viejo, CA) in the 500 freestyle (5:06.11).
Coach Dave Jennings's RedHawks (7-1) are now idle until December 4-6 when they host the Miami Invitational at the Nixon Aquatic Center.
