Coach Kramig Post Game Quotes

OXFORD, Ohio - As the seconds ticked off the clock at Miami Soccer Field, Courtney Clarke found the back of the net to give the RedHawks a 2-1 win over Mid-American Conference leading Kent State on Friday evening.

Miami fell behind in the 62nd minute when L.A. Thoma of Kent State headed in an excellent cross from Annie Messer. It looked like the RedHawks would come out on the short end until the 86th minute when Jodi Zwingelberg bent a goal in and around Kent State keeper Kelly Sherwood.

The game appeared headed for overtime as the seconds were counted down in the final minute, but Courtney Clarke broke through the Kent State back line and launched the game winner into the net. The RedHawks stormed the field and swarmed Clarke with three seconds left on the clock.

Miami controlled action in the first half, putting six shots on net including two by Julie Thompson. The Golden Flashes also had three team saves as keeper Kelly Sherwood received some help from her defense. Miami was constantly in the Kent State zone and earned seven corner kicks and totaled eight shots.

Miami will continue MAC play Sunday when they take on Buffalo at Miami Soccer Field at 1 p.m.
