RedHawks Win BGSU Women's Challenge

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Miami University women's indoor track and field team won the Bowling Green State University Challenge on Saturday in Bowling Green, Ohio.
The RedHawks' 218.5 points won the event with BGSU coming in second with 145. Western Michigan was third with 140 and Ohio was fourth with 85.5. Sophomore Laura Neufarth got the RedHawk day starting on the right track when she won the 5000 meters in 17:18.88. Fellow sophomore Margeria Pogorelov won the 60 meter dash in 7.57 and the 300-meter dash in 40.89. DeLana Turner won the 60-meter hurdles in 8.97. Amanda Mirochna and Jennie Stoll finished third and fourth, respectively, in the mile run with times of 5:08.83 and 5:08.96. Stoll would come back to win the 3000 meters in 10:22.82.
In the 400 meters, Betsy Allen and Ruth Rasch were third and fourth, with times of 59.75 and 1:00.82, respectively. The 600 meter run saw Andrea Tepe come in second with a time of 1:37.06, while Katie Lenahan and Lauren Aeh were second and third in the 800 meters with times of 2:21.99 and 2:22.79.
In field events, Magda Wikar was third in the long jump at 17-10, while Lape was fourth with 17-6. Brittney Bernardoni took the pole vault with an 11-5 3/4, while Erin Frazier was third at 10-6. Miami finished 1-2 in the high jump with Kristina Bolterstein winning with 5-10 and Katelyn Kelly second at 5-8.
Hope Alexander won the triple jump with a bound of 37-6, while Wikar was third with a 37-2 1/4 performance.
Tepe, Alexis Lape, Rasch, and Betsy Allen teamed up to win the 4 X 400 relay with a time of 4:00.17.
The RedHawks will next compete when they travel to Eastern Illinois on Saturday, Jan. 19 for the EIU Invitational.
