CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Miami University women's soccer team tied the host Cincinnati Bearcats, 1-1 (2 OT) on Sunday afternoon at Gettler Stadium on the UC campus.

The RedHawks, now 1-0-1 on the season, got their lone goal from freshman Julie Thompson who had just registered a hat trick in her first collegiate game, a 5-1 win over Morehead State on Friday evening. Sophomore defender Courtney Elsen and freshman forward Jackie Hardek assisted Thompson's goal, which came at the 54-minute mark.

MU goalkeeper Krista Pace allowed one goal, while stopping six shots in 110 minutes.

Sophomore forward Allison Berkey put two shots on goal in 78 minutes of play.

The hosts outshot the RedHawks 14-10 and had five corner kicks compared to three for Miami. The RedHawks were also whistled for six offsides penalties.

The Bearcats got on the board first with a goal from Melissa Bing in the 30th minute.

The all-time series is now in Cincinnati's favor at 3-2-2.

Miami will next travel to Columbia University on Friday at 7 p.m. before then traveling to St. John's University on Sunday at noon.
