DeKALB, Ill.--Miami University's women's tennis team got back on the winning track Thursday afternoon posting a 5-2 win at Northern Illinois. The RedHawks improve to 9-12 overall and 3-4 in Mid-American Conference action, while the Huskies drop to 4-9 on the season and 0-5 in MAC play.
Seniors Katrina Lomidze and Linda Jirouskova picked up an 8-5 win at No. 1 doubles, while juniors Leda Pesatova and Victoria Pulido recorded an 8-6 win at No. 2 doubles to hand Miami the doubles point.
In singles action, the RedHawks earned wins in the first and second flights as Lomidze topped Lilian Asuaje 6-4, 6-1 and Pesatova won at No. 2 singles in three sets 6-4, 1-6, 6-1. Miami also recorded wins in the fourth and fifth flights as freshman Kristen McPhillips rallied for a three-set win against Brooke Forsberg 3-6, 6-0, 6-3 and Pulido posted a 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 5 singles.
Miami rounds out its regular season next weekend, hosting Ball State at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 21.
