OXFORD, Ohio--Picking up hard-fought wins at No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6 singles after key wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles to capture the doubles points, Miami University's women's tennis team outlasted Eastern Michigan University 4-3 on Saturday afternoon at the Riverside Athletic Club in Hamilton, Ohio.
Juniors Leda Pesatova and Victoria Pulido posted an 8-4 win for the RedHawks at No. 2 doubles, while freshman Kristen McPhillips and junior Kelly Douple recorded an 8-3 win at No. 3 doubles.
After being edged in the first set, 6-7, McPhillips came back with 6-1 and 6-4 wins to win at No. 4 singles. Pulido also went three sets at No. 5 singles--7-6, 2-6, 6-4--to pull out the win for the RedHawks, while Douple captured a 7-5, 7-5 win at No. 6 singles.
Miami (8-10; 2-2 Mid-American Conference) rounds out a five-match home stretch, hosting Xavier University in a non-conference match at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, April 3.
