Women's Tennis Team Topped By Buffalo, 5-2

OXFORD, Ohio--Juniors Victoria Pulido and Kelly Douple recorded wins at No. 5 and No. 6 singles, respectively, but those would be the lone points for the RedHawks as Miami University's women's tennis team fell to the University at Buffalo on Saturday afternoon at the Riverside Athletic Club in Hamilton, Ohio, 5-2.

Miami dropped to 7-9 overall and evened its Mid-American Conference record at 1-1, while the Bulls moved to 10-1 on the season and 2-0 in MAC play.

In doubles action, Miami's No. 3 tandem of Douple and Kristen McPhillips posted an 8-3 win over the duo of Tina Jacob and Katrin Fischer, but Buffalo earned 8-2 wins in both No. 1 and No. 2 doubles to capture the doubles point.

At No. 5 singles, Pulido downed Buffalo's Smaranda Stan 6-3, 7-5, while Douple edged Buffalo's Jacob 7-5, 0-6, 6-4 at No. 6 singles. Miami went three sets in the third and fourth flights as Andreea Novaceanu edged Miami senior Linda Jirouskova at No. 3 singles 5-7, 6-1, 7-5. At No. 4 singles, Buffalo's Natalie Dean topped McPhillips 6-3, 2-6, 7-5.

Miami continues a five-match home stretch and when it hosts Toledo on Friday, March 30 and Eastern Michigan on Saturday, March 31. Both match times are set for 1 p.m.
