OXFORD, Ohio - On Dedication Weekend at the brand new $4.5 million Miami Softball Stadium, rain allowed for only three of the Miami Invitational's four scheduled games to be played. Purdue and Toledo each captured victories, while Miami and Purdue played to a 3-3 tie in the day's final game. Youngstown State dropped a pair of one-run games on Friday, while the final game, which was slated to feature Miami and Toledo, was rained out.

An unearned run in the top of the sixth inning was the difference as the Boilermakers won the opening game of the Miami Invitational. It was Purdue's seventh straight win.

A pair of home runs provided all of the scoring in Toledo's 2-1 victory, as the Rockets handed Youngstown State its second straight one-run loss. Alison Hess' two-run first-inning home run provided all the offense Toledo would need, while McKenzie Bendra's fourth-inning blast accounted for the game's only other run.
