YPSILANTI, Mich.--Senior Paul Ricard posted first-place finishes in the 1,000-yard freestyle and the 500-yard freestyle to lead the Miami University men's swimming and diving team, but it was not enough as the RedHawks lost at Eastern Michigan University, 150-88, on Saturday afternoon.
The win marked EMU's 47th-consecutive dual meet win, leaving the Eagles 4-0 in Mid-American Conference action. It was Miami's lone loss in MAC action, dropping the Red and White to 3-7 on the season and 3-1 in the MAC.
Ricard clocked a career-best time of 9:17.74 in the 1,000 free, while posting a time of 4:38.26 in the 500 free. He also swam the opening leg of the 400-freestyle relay along with freshman David Brown, junior Chase Mortimer and sophomore Zachary Siegel, which posted a time of 3:12.29 and finished first.
Senior Marshall Griffin posted at time of 2:09.57 in the 200-yard freestyle and finished first. Mortimer finished second in the 200-yard individual medley in a time of 1:57.12, while sophomore Nick DuPuis placed second in the 200-yard butterfly in a time of 1:54.01. Junior Ryan McHugh also finished second in the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 0:47.16.
Miami is off until the Mid-American Conference Championships Feb. 22-24, hosted by Buffalo.
