RedHawks Lead Miami Invitational Through Two Days

Miami sophomore Karen Frazier set a new pool, school and MAC all-time record for fastest time in the 100-yard breaststroke as the RedHawks finished day two of the Miami Invitational leading the field of 16. Frazier was able to finish the race in 1:02.19, just under a full second faster than Jodi Navta of Michigan finished the race in 1996. MU has earned 952 points through 20 events.
Junior Allison Stevens set a new varsity record for the 200-yard freestyle event, finishing the race in 1:49.94. Stevens also took second place in the 200-yard butterfly, with a time of 2:06.18.
The 400-yard medley relay team of juniors Allison Stevens, Malarie Schmidt, sophomore Karen Frazier and freshman Nicole Roddenbery took first place, gaining 72 points for the team.
Frazier had more success later in the day, as she finished the 400-yard individual medley in first place with a time of 4:25.26.
Juniors Melissa Roemmele (2nd), Alex Enriquez (3rd), Erin Jones (8th), and sophomores Rachel Smith (4th), and Kelsey Anagnos (5th) all finished in the top-10 for the 3-meter diving event, earning 138 points combined for the team.
The RedHawks head into the final day of the Invitational with a 434 point lead over the next closest team (Oakland University).
