RedHawks Lead Miami Invitational After Day One

Through the first day of the 14th annual Miami Invitational, the RedHawks lead the field of nine, accumulating 126 points.
Senior Paul Ricard won the 1650-yard freestyle with a time of 15:23.69, narrowly beating Cincinnati freshman Nathan Williams by less than four seconds. Ricard's first-place finish was good for 36 points.
Also finishing in the top-10 in the 1650-yard freestyle was MU freshman Darin Smith, who with a time of 16:14.39 finished in ninth place, taking 23 points overall.
The 800-yard freestyle relay team composed of seniors Ryan McHugh and Chase Mortimer, junior Nick DuPuis and sophomore Dave Brown chipped in with 50 points, finishing seventh in the event.
The Invitational continues Friday morning and will conclude Saturday evening.
