OXFORD, Ohio - On the strength of three second-half goals, the Louisville Cardinals handed the Miami University women's soccer team (1-1-0) a 3-0 loss in its 2006 home opener Sunday afternoon at Miami Soccer Field.

Despite firing 12 second-half shots, Miami could not find the back of the net as it was blanked by Louisville, which is ranked No. 29 in the NSCAA/Adidas National Preseason Poll, for the second straight season. The Cardinals (2-0-0) won the two team's last meeting by an identical score of 3-0 on Aug. 28, 2005.

Louisville spoiled Bobby Kramig's 500th career game as head coach as it tallied goals in the 51st, 68th and 85th minutes. The Cardinals' Jamie Craft, a preseason all-BIG EAST selection, figured in on all three goals, scoring Louisville's first goal and assisting on its final two.

After Miami and Louisville played a scoreless first half, Craft staked the Cardinals to a 1-0 lead less than six minutes into the second half. After slipping behind the Miami defense, Craft took a touch pass from Nikki Bonacorsi at the top of the 18-yard box and lined it past a diving RedHawk keeper at 50:23.

With the Cardinals about to seize the momentum, lightning and threatening weather in the area led to an hour-long delay less than 10 minutes into the second half. The delay helped the RedHawks regroup as they managed to fire nine shots after the break, but they were unable to finish and find the back of the net. Senior Katie Boyd (Columbus, Ohio) and freshman Jodi Zwingelberg (Elgin, Ill.) both put multiple shots on goal in the final twenty minutes of play, but Louisville goalkeeper Deana Waintraub was solid in goal, making six saves on the afternoon.

Mallory Lampson and Lindsey Fox added goals at the 67:46 and 84:00 marks, respectively, to give Louisville its final margin of victory.

The loss cut Miami's lead in the all-time series with Louisville to 4-2-0, with the Cardinals winning each of the last two meetings. The loss also dropped Miami's record in home openers to 5-4-1.

Miami resumes non-conference action Friday, Sept. 1 when they welcome the Cincinnati Bearcats to Miami Soccer Field. Kickoff is slated for 5 p.m.

GAME NOTES: Miami's 3-0 loss marked the 500th game in Bobby Kramig's coaching career. It also was Kramig's 484th game as head coach at Miami, including 16 seasons as the men's head coach and 10 with the women's program.
