HAMILTON, Ohio--Miami University's women's tennis team (3-3; 0-0 MAC) ended a two-match slide in impressive fashion Saturday evening at Riverside Racquet Club, downing area rival the University of Dayton, 7-0, behind an impressive all-around effort.
The RedHawks, who swept all nine doubles and singles matches for the first time this season, got off to a good start behind a pair of new doubles tandems. Along with the No. 1 doubles pair of Linda Jirouskova and Katrina Lomidze, who won for the second straight week, seniors Remy Swain and Maura Trauernicht teamed up for an 8-2 win at No. 2 doubles, while sophomores Victoria Pulido and Leda Pesatova prevailed, 8-2, at third doubles.
Swain led a sweep of the singles action, blanking Carrie Tirigilo, 6-0, 6-0, to win her fifth straight singles outing. Pulido won for the second straight week, downing Andrea Muresan, 6-2, 6-3 at No. 5 singles. Junior Linda Jirouskova, who is battling her way back from injury, picked up her first win of the season with a three-set defeat of UD's Nikki Dzubay, 6-4, 4-6, 10-2, at third singles.
Miami returns to action tomorrow when it hosts Wright State University at Riverside Racquet Club. Doubles play is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.
