Ricard Places 52nd in 200 Free at U.S. Open

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Competing in his second event at the U.S. Open Championships, Miami University junior swimmer Paul Ricard placed 52nd in the 200-meter freestyle Friday at the Boilermaker Aquatic Center. Ricard also placed 46th in the 400-meter freestyle on Thursday and is slated to swim in the 1,650-meter freestyle tomorrow.
In his second straight day of long course competition, Ricard clocked in with a time of 1:57.08 in the 200-meter freestyle preliminaries. The defending Mid-American Conference Swimmer of the Year finished the race 5.36 seconds behind top finisher Robbie Renwick. Ricard's 50-meter, 100 meter and 150-meter splits were 27.07, 56.20 and 1:26.76, respectively.
Ricard and senior Michael Donohoe are the only two RedHawks slated to compete tomorrow on the final day of the U.S. Open. Ricard is competing in the 1,500-meter freestyle, while Donohoe is swimming in the 200-meter butterfly.
