OXFORD, Ohio - Posting its first shutout of the season and receiving goals from three different players, the Miami University women's soccer team (5-6-1; 2-2-1 MAC) rolled to a 3-0 win over Eastern Michigan University Friday at Miami Soccer Field.

It was a game of firsts for the RedHawks as freshman goalkeeper Krista Pace (Toronto, Ontario) notched her first career shutout by making five saves, while sophomore Allison Berkey (Hopkinton, Mass.) scored her first career goal at the 49:11 mark. Redshirt freshman Jackie Hardek (Wheaton, Ill.) also tallied her first career assist in the match, and senior Kathleen Vistica (Monrovia, Md.) added a goal and an assist, including a penalty kick in the 59th minute, as Miami won for the first time in four matches.

Miami got on the scoreboard first in the 37th minute when senior Aimee Prevallet (Fairfax Station, Va.) tallied her second goal of the season off an assist from Hardek. Carrying the ball in the middle of the 18-yard box, Hardek found a wide-open Prevallet streaking down the side of the box. Eastern Michigan goalkeeper Monique Budani came out to challenge the ball, and after Prevallet deked Budani, she put home the game-winning goal on an open net at 36:32.

Less than five minutes into the second half, Berkey netted her first career goal in the 50th minute off an assist from Vistica. After a Vistica shot from inside the 18 yard-box was deflected by an Eastern Michigan defender, Berkey corralled the lose ball and banged home a goal from eight yards out past a diving Budani.

Vistica added her team-leading sixth goal of the season at 58:33 when she scored on Miami's first penalty kick of the season. On a breakway attempt, Vistica was taken down 10 yards out by a pair of Eastern Michigan defenders, and after being awarded a penalty kick, she booted a low line-drive inside the left post, effectively putting the game out of reach.

With the shutout, Pace moved her season record to 3-5-1.

For Miami, the win evened the all-time series with Eastern Michigan at 6-6-1. The RedHawks have now won the last four meetings with the Eagles.

It also was the RedHawks' second home win of the season, moving their 2006 home mark to 2-4-0.

Miami seeks to complete a sweep of its Mid-American Conference weekend series when it hosts Central Michigan Sunday at noon.
