OXFORD, Ohio -- Two Miami swimmers, senior co-captain Scott Robson (Glen Ellyn, Ill./Glenbard South) and junior Griffin Marshall (Dallas, Texas/Jesuit College Prep), kept busy over the summer as they participated in the 2005 ConocoPhillips Summer National Championships. The event took place Aug. 3-7 at the William J. Woollett Aquatics Center in Irvine, Calif., and it featured the nation's top high school and collegiate swimmers.
Robson and Griffin qualified for the meet at the Mid-American Conference Championships in March, and both swimmers turned in solid performances at their first-ever national meet. Robson, a two-time All-MAC First-Team selection, swam the 200-meter butterfly and placed 55th overall with a time of 2:05.99. Griffin, a member of the 2005 All-MAC Second Team, turned in a time of 1:06.34 in the 100-meter breaststroke, good for 49th place.
The event featured many of the top names in men's and women's swimming including Olympic gold medalist Michael Phelps.
