ATHENS, Ohio -- Miami University's women's swimming and diving team made its first strides toward a fourth consecutive Mid-American Conference Championship Thursday morning at Ohio University's Aquatic Center, placing two swimmers in the championship finals of the 200 Yard IM and a swimmer each in the 50-yard freestyle and 500-yard freestyle.
Sophomore Margaret Patrick steamed to the top overall time in the 50-yard freestyle, clocking a season-best time of 23.94. Senior Christel Frantz qualified for the consolation finals, finishing with the 12th overall time of 24.31.
In the 500-yard freestyle, junior Katie Forster finished with the sixth-fastest time, qualifying for the championship final in a season-best time of 4:58.03.
Miami's strongest event was the 200-IM, where junior Laura Armbruster posted the second-fastest time at 2:04.03 and junior Katie Unger posted the fourth-fastest time at 2:06.39. Freshman Kristen Bezler qualified for the consolation finals with the 11th-fastest overall time at 2:09.22.
