ANN ARBOR -- The Miami University Collegiate Synchronized Skating Team opened up the 2005-06 season with a strong showing at the Dr. Porter Classic at the Ann Arbor Ice Cube in Ann Arbor, Mich., giving Miami a weekend sweep of the senior and collegiate divisions. The team performed their long program "Las Vegas" and captured the event with straight first-place ordinals.
"I couldn't have asked for a much better start to our season," said head coach Vicki Korn. "Both teams had strong weekends, raising themselves to meet the challenge. Their efforts have really set the bar for the rest of the season and I can't wait to see what's next."
The senior and collegiate teams will take off for the rest of the semester and will not compete again until January when the senior team will travel to Fraser, Mich. on Jan. 13-14 for the Mid-America Championships. The collegiate team hits the ice a week later when it competes in the Western Michigan Collegiate on Jan. 21.
