CLEVELAND - Following his record-setting performance in the 500 freestyle against the No. 20 Ohio State Buckeyes, Miami University junior swimmer Paul Ricard (Bowling Green, Ohio/ Bowling Green) has been named the Mid-American Conference's Swimmer of the Week for the second-consecutive week.
Ricard posted Miami's first individual win in the RedHawks 136-97 setback versus the nationally-ranked Buckeyes on Nov. 4 as he clocked in at 4:32.91 in the 500 free. With his performance, Ricard set a new McCorkle Aquatic Center and bested the old pool record by nearly 11 seconds.
For the season, Ricard has won four events and helped Miami to a 2-1 record, including wins over Buffalo and Cleveland State on the season's opening weekend. Ricard's conference honor is his second of the season as he also was selected as the MAC Swimmer of the Week on Nov. 1. After missing last season because of an injury, a healthy Ricard has rebounded to win four of the first five events he has entered this year.
The RedHawks are back in action this weekend when they face the Ball State Cardinals on Nov. 12. The two teams hit the pool at 4 p.m. at the Lewellen Aquatic Center.
