BUFFALO, N.Y. - In their Mid-American Conference opener, the Miami University men's swimming and diving team (2-0, 1-0 MAC) won their second dual meet in as many days as they posted a 144-95 win over the Buffalo Bulls. At Alumni Arena on Saturday, Miami won 8 of 13 events, including the final four events of the meet, as seven different RedHawks posted first place finishes.
Buffalo jumped out to an early lead as they won the first three events, but Miami responded by winning three of the next four. Freshman Zachary Siegel (Wilmette, Ill./New Trier) was the first Miami swimmer to win an event as he placed first in the 50 free, and after placing three of the top four in the 200 IM, the RedHawks won the next two events as freshman Chris Heaton (Centerville, Ohio/Centerville) earned top honors in the three-meter dive and senior Scott Robson (Glen Ellyn, Ill./Glenbard South) finished first in the 200 fly.
After a Buffalo win in the 100 free, Miami reeled off five-consecutive wins to close out the meet. Senior Andrew O'Neill (Rockaway, N.J./Oratory Prep) started the RedHawk winning streak with a win in the 200 back, and junior Paul Ricard (Bowling Green, Ohio/Bowling Green), freshman Zach Niehaus (Taylor Mill Ky./Scott) and sophomore Theo Kuczek (Deerfield. Ill./Deerfield) followed with wins in the 500 free, one-meter dive and 200 breast, respectively. In the final event of the day, Miami finished by winning the 400 free relay.
Miami continues its stretch of four-consecutive road dual meets when they visit the Ohio State Buckeyes on Friday, Nov. 4. The meet is slated to begin at 6 p.m.
