REDHAWKS TAKE TO THE SEA OVER WINTER BREAK: During the team's training trip in Florida, the RedHawks participated in the Ocean Mile Swim in Fort Lauderdale. Against teams representing schools from Minnesota to Massachusetts, Miami's two teams came in fourth and sixth. Juniors Scott Robson, Pat Carroll and David Hine and seniors John Grubb and Jason Krasula finished the race in a total time of one hour, 51 minutes and 52 seconds, with Robson's 21-minute, 13-second finish the ninth-best time of any participants across all age groups. All 19 available swimmers competed in the swim, whether individually or on one of Miami's two teams.
UC/KENYON MEET MOVED TO OXFORD: Friday's tri-meet with Cincinnati and Kenyon has been moved from Cincinnati to Oxford, head coach Pete Lindsay announced Tuesday. The meet now starts at 3 p.m.
STORYLINES:
1. SOMETHING TO SWIM FOR: With a defeat of Cincinnati, the RedHawks can emerge from their local competition with a winning record, having defeated Xavier (Nov. 20) and lost to Wright State (Nov. 19), representing all four Division I men's swimming programs in Southwest Ohio. Against Kenyon, Miami can avenge the win Kenyon earned at the Miami Invitational Dec. 3-5.
2. BEGINNING THE HOMESTAND: Friday's relocated meet increases the RedHawk homestand to three meets in three weekends. Next weekend, the Cleveland State Vikings come to Oxford, followed by a return to MAC competition on Jan. 28 vs. Ohio. After that, the RedHawks go on the road again to face perennial MAC power Eastern Michigan on Feb. 5.
