Miami Closes Out Midwest Confernece Classic with Strong Finish

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Freshman diver Katie Meister (Cincinnati, Ohio/McAuley) posted second and fourth-place finishes in the three- and one-meter diving events at the Midwest Conference Classic in Indianapolis, Ind. to help Miami capture the overall team title with a score of 790. The RedHawks finished ahead of Northern Colorado (711), Eastern Illinois (542), Western Illinois (496), IUPUI (406) and Valparaiso (317) to close out the field.
Also capturing second-place finishes for the RedHawks were freshman Amber Kerek (Hudson, Ohio/Hudson) in the 1650-meter freestyle (17:45.05) and junior Christen Fout (Shaker Heights, Ohio/Hawken School) in the 200-yard butterfly (2:10.66). The 400-yard freestyle relay of Margaret Patrick (Marietta, Ga./Holy Innocents), Tyler Smith (Milledgeville, Ga./Baldwin), Morgan Kautz (Long Grove, Ill./Stevenson) and Katie Scott (St. Louis, Mo./Lindbergh) brought home second with a time of 3:34.26.
The RedHawks next compete as a team Thursday, Feb. 26-Saturday, Feb. 28 at the MAC Championships hosted by Miami University at the Corwin M. Nixon Aquatic Center.
