Forster Named MAC Athlete Of The Week

OXFORD, Ohio - Sophomore Katie Forster (Centerville, Ohio/Centerville) has been named this week's Mid-American Conference Female Swimmer of the Week, the league office announced today. It is the first such honor for a RedHawk this season, despite finishing the regular season with a perfect 8-0 conference mark.
Forster won four events on the weekend to help Miami finish off its third straight undefeated conference season and take the MAC regular-season title.
In the RedHawks' first-place showdown with undefeated Ohio on Friday, she won two events and swam with a first-place relay. Miami's record-holder in the 500 free, Forster hit the wall in 5:00.53 to win the event. She also claimed top honors in 200 fly with a time of 2:05.27. Forster also was a part of the first-place 400 medley relay team (3:53.49).On Saturday vs. Marshall, she took first and second in her only two events. She won the 1650 free with a time of 17:52.27, before taking second to a teammate in the 200 breaststroke.
The Red and White has a week off before the Midwest Conference Classic, Feb. 19-21, in Indianapolis. The MCC serves as a tune-up for the MAC Championships, which Miami is hosting, Feb. 26-28, at the Corwin M. Nixon Aquatic Center.
