Box Score

OXFORD, OH - Junior Matt Davis, normally a blueliner for the RedHawks, who was playing up front for the Miami due to injuries, put together a career night against Robert Morris, scoring on half of the RedHawks' goals with two tallies and two assists as the Red and White skated to an 8-1 win over the Colonials in Goggin Ice Arena. The eight Miami goals are the team most this season and the most since hanging eight on the University of Michigan on Oct. 10, 2003 (8-3).

It didn't take Miami or Davis long to get on the board. Just 1:35 into the game Davis swung the puck out from behind the back of the Miami net up the left-hand boards to Jon Saunders who ripped a one-timer at the net where senior Joe Pomaranski tipped it in for this third lamp lighter of the season. The assist was also Saunders' first collegiate point.

From there the flood gates opened as Miami reeled off two more goals in the opening period by Chris Busby at 12:06 and Taylor Hustead at 16:00. Busby's goal was his second in his two games.

In the second period, the Davis Brothers extended the Miami lead to 5-0 as Matt scored at 11:27, followed by Nate at 14:09. Nate's power-play goal was his first of two goals on the night and broke a seven-game goal-scoring drought. Sophomore Marty Guerin posted his second goal in five games and seventh of the year with a power-play goal at 16:01.

The career night for the Davis boys closed out in the third period as the pair sandwiched goals around Robert Morris' only goal of the night.

The RedHawks owned every phase of the game out shooting the Colonials 38-23, scoring on 4-of-8 power plays while killing off all six RMU man advantages.

Sophomore goaltender Brandon Crawford-West ran his streak to five straight starts without allowing more than two goals in any game. Crawford-West picked up the win (6-7-1) was spelled in the third period by freshman netminder Charlie Effinger,
