Miami Tennis Gets Bucked by Broncos, 6-1 RedHawks drop to 3-3 in MAC and travel to Northern Illinois tomorrow
KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Miami women's tennis team lost its second consecutive Mid-American Conference match this afternoon losing to Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, 6-1 and dropping to 3-3 in conference play.
For just the second time in its last six matches, Miami lost the double point, losing all three matches, coming close in the first two flights. The No. 2 tandem of sophomore Nancy Wiegand and senior Ilze Meyer came the closest to winning, losing 8-5.
In singles actions, freshman Maura Trauernicht won for the first time in three matches, helping the RedHawks avoid being swept with a 6-1, 7-5 two-set victory. Trauernicht is now 10-6 overall this season.
Miami, now 8-10 overall and 3-3 in the MAC, closes out its weekend with another MAC match versus Northern Illinois tomorrow in Dekalb, Ill., at 1 p.m. CST
