Christen Fout Earns MAC Swimmer of the Week

Sophomore Christen Fout (Shaker Heights, Ohio/Hawken School) received her first career Mid-American Conference Swimmer of the Week honor, after she earned three wins and a second-place finish at the Midwest Classic Championships in Indianapolis, Ind., the MAC office announced on Tuesday.
Fout won the 200-yard IM on Thursday in 2:11.47 and also combined to win the 400-yard medley relay in 4:02.78. On Friday, the sophomore won her second event of the championships by taking the title in the 100-yard butterfly. Fout swam in 0:59.40 to win by three tenths of a second. On Saturday, Fout placed second in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:11.71. All three individual times were lifetime bests.
This weekend marked the first time that Fout had won an individual race as a RedHawk swimmer. Fout placed third against Xavier and Valporaiso in the 200-yard butterfly on Nov. 23 and third in the 200-yard butterfly and 200-yard IM against Oakland on Jan. 11. On Jan. 24, Fout placed third in the 200-yard butterfly and second in the 100-yard butterfly against Marshall.
Fout is the third Miami women's swimmer to win the award. Junior Casey Mangano (Cincinnati, OH/St. Ursula) earned the distinction on Nov. 20 and junior Amy Miranda (Louisville, Ky./Sacred Heart Academy) won the award on Nov. 26.
