OXFORD, Ohio - Miami University men's swimming & diving head coach Pete Lindsay announced the first signing of the early signing period today. Breaststroker Blake Norman (Greenwood, Ind./Center Grove) became the first swimmer to commit to the program for the 2004-05 season by filing his National Letter of Intent during the early signing period.
Norman will come to Miami where his main events will be the 100 and 200 breaststroke, as well as the 200 individual medley. At last year's Indiana High School State Meet, Norman qualified for the finals in the 100 breast, finishing fourth. He also narrowly missed the finals in the 200 IM.
"Blake is a versatile breastroker and IM'er," said Lindsay. "He will strengthen our breastroking core, as he will come in with times comparable to our top swimmers in that area. He is also a strong student, (Miami) seems a good fit for him."
