OXFORD, Ohio - Junior Peter Donohue (Cincinnati, Ohio/Turpin) was named the Mid-American Conference's Swimming & Diving Athlete of the Week, the league office announced today. Donohue is the second RedHawk to earn the honor in as many weeks, following Andrew Keefe (Cincinnati, Ohio/St. Xavier) last week.
Competing at his first meet of the season, Donohue won both diving events to help Miami to a 136-105 victory over Ball State last Saturday. In the one-meter event, he surpassed his personal-best score, tallying 323.85 points. That figure fell three points short of tying a school mark. From the three-meter board, he tallied 291.75 points in completing the sweep. Both scores are tops in the MAC, with his one-meter score 50-plus points better than second.
The RedHawks defeated Ball State to improve their record to 2-1 on the season, including 2-0 in the MAC. Miami has a small break before competing against local rivals Wright State and Xavier. The Red and White travel to Dayton for a dual meet with the Raiders on Nov. 21, before returning home to host the Musketeers on Saturday, Nov. 22.
