Women's Swimming Opens At Tom Stubbs Relays

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Miami University's women's swimming team kicked off its 2003-2004 season at the Tom Stubbs Relays, hosted on the campus of Bowling Green State University. The non-scoring meet was held Friday night, and featured relay and team diving events.
Miami competed in all 10 of the relay events, but did not enter divers in the team diving events.
In the 300 butterfly relay, the RedHawks placed a pair of relays in the top four. The trio of Ellen Koch, Katie Forster and Laura Armbruster finished second in a time of 2:56.01. Katie Unger, Cortney Dice and Michelle Reynolds finished fourth in the event in 2:58.68. The 300 fly is a relay not generally run in competition.
The Red and White repeated the feat, providing both the second- and fourth-place teams in the 400 medley relay. Armbruster, Unger, Dice and Forster formed the second-place relay, finishing in 4:08.34, while Koch, Christen Fout, Sarah Baumert and Darcy Meek placed fourth. The latter team competed the event in 4:17.39.
Forster, Reynolds, Amy Miranda and Julie Madden made up Miami's second-place 800 freestyle relay, while a 10-person relay took second in the 500 free event.
The RedHawks kick off their competitive season Wednesday, Oct. 29 against Purdue. Miami, which was picked to win its third straight MAC Championship earlier in the day, will host the dual meet which begins at 4 p.m.
