Although Miami's women's swimming and diving team had not swam at home in over a month, the RedHawks didn't skip a beat over Wright State, 153-79 at Corwin M. Nixon Aquatic Center. The Red and White won 12 of the 13 events on Friday night.
Miami's 400-yard medley relay team of sophomore Trisha Lamb (Oregon, Ohio/Notre Dame Academy), junior Casey Mangano (Cincinnati, Ohio/St. Ursula), sophomore Michelle Reynolds (Wyoming, Ohio/Wyoming) and senior Jackie Hiltman (West Chester, Ohio/Lakota West) got the rout started by easily defeating the rest of the crowd with a time of 3:57.67.
Freshman Katie Forster (Centerville, OH/Centerville) kept the heat on by crushing her nearest opponent by 16 seconds in the 1,000-yard freestyle to claim first-place.
Senior Colleen Rambasek (Kettering, Ohio/Alter), Hiltman, sophomore Andrea Hocevar (Richmond Heights, Ohio/Hawken School) and freshman Lindsey Kessler (Evanston, Ill./Evanston Township) were the top four finishers in the 50-yard freestyle as Miami continued to cruise over the Raiders.
The 200-yard IM was no different for Miami as freshman Laura Armbruster (North Royalton, Ohio/North Royalton), Mangano and senior Heather Kelley (Milwaukee, Wis./Divine Savior Holy Angels) placed 1-2-3 for Miami in the fourth event for the women.
Diving proved that Miami would not be denied as freshman Christin Eberst (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa) was followed by four RedHawk divers to claim all the scoring places for Miami in the three-meter diving event.
The trend of dominating the top spots continued with Reynolds, sophomore Cortney Dice (Pittsburgh, Pa./Hampton) and Lamb taking the top three spots in the 200-yard butterfly for the women's sixth event of the evening.
Rambasek took the next race by beating out Wright State's Milda Zilinskaite in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 0:53.48.
In Miami's eighth race, sophomore Katie Miles (Fishers, Ind./Hamilton Southeastern) edged out senior Rebecca Vianello (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mariemont) as Miami took the first two places in the 200-yard backstroke.
Eberst took first-place in the one-meter diving event to lead the other Miami divers as they took the first four places in the tenth event for the Red and White.
Armbruster kept the heat on by touching the wall first in the 200-yard breastroke with a time of 2:26.33 and freshman Julia Bayard (Los Angeles, Cal./Notre Dame Academy) not far behind for second place.
Junior Amy Miranda (Louisville, KY/Sacred Heart Academy) continued her success by placing first in the 200-yard freestlye despite her usual expertise in the distance events.
The RedHawks capped the evening off with senior Kristen Sivard (Dublin, Ohio/Dublin Coffman), Rambasek, Kessler and Hocevar winning the women's 400-yard freestyle relay.
In a short turnaround, the RedHawks travel to Gambier, Ohio to face swimming power, Kenyon College at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
