Sophomore Peter Donohue (Cincinnati, Ohio/Turpin) was named Mid-American Conference Swimmer of the Week on Tuesday after sweeping both the one- and three-meter diving competitions against the University of Cincinnati on Friday evening. Donohue is the first Miami men's swimmer or diver to earn the weekly honor during the 2002-03 season.
Donohue took the top spot in the one-meter diving event by scoring 363.95 points over the Bearcats. Donohue also scored 313.60 in the three-meter diving event to take home two first-place finishes on the evening.
On Dec. 6, Donohue led the RedHawks at the Miami Invitational when he set a Miami record and a MAC record in men's one-meter diving. The sophomore diver beat out five Indiana University divers who placed second through sixth in the one-meter event. Donohue stood second going into the finals but finished the evening with a final score of 356.20 for first-place.
Donohue has not been beaten in the one-meter diving event in over two months heading into Friday's meet versus Wright State at 6 p.m. in Oxford, Ohio.
