Amy Miranda Places 12th in Phillips 66 Summer Nationals

Miami University junior Amy Miranda added a personal achievement to her already impressive resume with a twelfth-place finish in the 1500 Freestyle at the 2002 Phillips 66 Summer Nationals on August 17th in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.
Miranda, who was swimming for Lakeside Aquatics out of Louisville, Ky., turned in a time of 17:02.86. She also was part of the Lakeside team that placed eighth in the 800-meter freestyle relay with a time of 8:20.40.
Miranda is a two-time first-team all-MAC selection and has captured two consecutive conference titles in the 1650 freestyle. Her time of 16:44.35 in the 2002 MAC Championships met the NCAA Provisional Qualifying Standard and her time of 16:39.36 in the 2001 MAC Championships broke the nine-year-old pool record by more than six seconds. She also won the 500 freestyle at the 2002 MAC Championships with a time of 4:52.35, which also hit the NCAA Provisional Qualifying Standard.
