Athens, Ga. -- Senior John Carroll (Toledo, Ohio/St. Francis) fell just short of making the finals of the 200 butterfly Saturday, March 30 at the NCAA Men's Swimming and Diving Championships in Athens, Ga., finishing one position away from being the final qualifier for the 'B' heat.
Carroll's career-best time of 1:45.94 was .08 seconds behind the 16th-place finisher, Texas' Joe Montague. It also is not far off the school mark of 1:45.83, set by Kevin Northrup in 1999.
He finishes his career as one of the greatest swimmers in Miami history, having twice been named Mid-American Conference Swimmer of the Year and won nine MAC individual titles, tied with Bill Mulliken and John Russell for the most in school history.
