Synchronized Skaters Represent U.S. At French Cup International

Rouen, France - The Miami University Senior Synchronized Skating team competed this weekend at the French Cup International in Rouen, France. The RedHawk skaters finished eighth in the short program, and ninth in the free skating part of the competition.
In the short program, the RedHawks accumulated 126 points to place eighth behind teams from Russia, Canada, Finland and the Czech Republic. Representing the United States at the competition, Miami received fifth-place ordinals from both the Italian and U.S. judges in the short program. The squad also received two sixth-place ordinals, two eighth, two eleventh and one twelfth-place ordinal in the short program.
The RedHawks came back on Saturday to finish ninth out of a field of 15 in the free skating program. Again, Miami received 126 points, including two seventh-place ordinals from the Swedish and Italian judges. The Red and White rounded out its finish with five eighth-seat ordinals and two ninth-place ordinals. The winning team in the free skate was Team Unique from Finland.
The Miami Senior Synchronized Skating team competes next at the U.S. National Championships in Lake Placid, N.Y. on Feb. 28-March 2.
